There is a moment of absolute stillness in which time seems to lose its momentum: a state of quiet contemplation in the face of the certainty that nothing lasts. In Mono no aware, Dahlia Godefroy explores the fascination of the ephemeral and the quiet melancholy that surrounds everything that changes, breaks, or fades away. Working in graphite, the series explores vulnerability and stillness. The human figure appears suspended within everyday objects transformed into spaces of isolation and quiet: vessels marked by time, dark waters holding the face in profound stillness, and surfaces where the delicacy of skin meets the roughness of matter.
